alriteee~!lets get off to a good start today!
brush up, have a good bathe and off we go.
1st thing 1st! lets have a good breakfast before heading off to our destination of the day,
lantau islands, ngong ping plateau or better known as 大屿山 (da4 yu3 shan1?) in chinese
(this hill with the giant buddha sitting on top of it)
okaay!so with insufficient sleep, i reluctantly climbed out of the bed.
(i cant fall asleep easily in a new environment)
so yea. i fell asleep kinda late (abt 2+am or smthing),
woke up a couple of times throughout the nite(3-4 times)
yea lol tats how bad it is! ):
nvm that!lets move on! :D
we went to have dim sum for our breakfast.
the dim sum restaurant was located KINDA near the hotel.
when i mean KINDA, we have to walk for up to 15-20+mins :O
okay the name of the restaurant is below.tats a tissue box btw.lol
yep! its buzzling with people of all ages, walks of life.
the dim sum restaurant have 2floors i tink and,
the pic is only abt less than 1/10 of the floor!
can u imagine how many people there is?how much dim sum are made daily?
the hongkongers really know how to enjoy their lives,
having their breakfast slowly, eating, sipping tea, reading newspapers and chatting with sm pals.
anyways,
u will be able to see them in a post one day.
hehehe!
alrite then, off we go!whee.
and yes, we r going to the mtr at mongkok station LOL
haha sm random woman using her hp.
on the train.
hm the journey was kinda long,
(click on the map if you want to understand wat the heck im talking about.
from mongkok, we travelled to lai king station.(red/tsuen wan line)
then changed to the yellow/tung chung line towards the tung chung station
and yea, the lantau islands/ngong ping plateau/大屿山 is very near the airport.
anyways, i got bored on the loooongggg train ride so decided to take random pics.lol
my shoes! :D
the camera.
okay.we reached tung chung.
got off the train and we walked abit,
and we were at the escalator tat would bring us over to the ngong ping 360 cable car station.
then...
my father saw this "falungongisgood" banner LOL
acting STUPID on the escalator.
we bought the 2way tickets
thats the pricing of the tickets.
take the price and divide it by about 5.4-ish.
tats how much it cost in sing dollars.haha
tadaa the ticket.
Q-ing up and waiting for our turn.
LENG-zai!LOL
(leng zai means handsome)
the views from inside the cable car.
they have a camera at the stations tat will take pics for u.
lol the pics are expensive.no doubt.
the cable car just left the station.
over the water.
ascending up.
this is the vitasoy a twist of "mai ya" or malt taste.
quiksilver.
i look so gloomy.lol
tats the giant buddha in the background.
tadaa!reached the 大屿山.
tat place looks very nice,
with ancient chinese buildings tat are actually shops.
woa but the sunlight there was very bright.
cant really open my eyes when taking pics.
so tats y some/most pics u will see us frowning.lol.im serious!
my father focusing and getting ready to take the pic above.
outside the cable car station which we arrived at.
the traditional chinese red lanterns.(dun tink dirty!)
and the buddha in the background
took a family pic
the stone railing by the side.
with the lotus flower pattern
again the buddha is in the background.
lol some funny board we saw infront of the shops.
saying "live abundant life everyday"
so we started walking towards the buddha statue...
the station was on the left side of the statue.
and so, we started our journey to the giant buddha statue
to ENLIGHTENMENT!
among the bushes!
and so,
slowly step by step, we reached the foot of the hill,
we started climbing the long stairs towards the buddha statue.
tat was about 1/4 of the stairs.
keep going (:
stopped abit and take some pics and rest.
we look so bitter.lol(there!i cant even barely open my eyes)
then again, step by step we made our way to the top of the hill.
closer and closer to the buddha statue.
it wasnt easy to climb all the way up there i tell you.
the sun was strong and the weather was very hot and we were sweating non-stop.
man.i definitely love this pic.
the sunlight in the background, shining down on the statue.
it just looks good to me (:
oh and this (:
this is cool haha.its a joss stick im im not wrong.
cai yuan guang jin in chinese.
idk how to explain in english.
its smthing like to wish for prosperse (for those who have businesses)
under a shade.
haha actually tat isnt a shade.
tat was some shrine where i shot the joss stick(above)
finally, we've reached the top of the hill.
random shots.
lol love the effects of this pic.
another sweet one (:
taken on the left side of the buddha.
haha.so after resting, enjoying some cool air and seeing the view from the top,
we decided to head back down to the foot of the hill to fill our stomaches.
we reached the foot of the hill and decided to go n take a look at some temple.
the joss sticks burning infront of the temple
the golden-body buddhas.
plates of fruits and electric lamps on the altars.
the dragon pillars outisde the temple.
this was the one on top.
and,
this was the one below.
theres the chinese stone lion statue,
with the buddhist flag.
so, we finally reached a vegetarian restaurant to have our rather late lunch
(was ard3+pm)
something i found on our table.
lol how true?
but the english is abit weird though haha.
lol look at the servings man...
a pot of rice, large bowl of soup, a dish of celery and duno wat, fried popiah, a bowl of spicy tofu,
a plate of mushrooms dried beancurd and fa-cai and lastly the large plate of xiao bai cai with mushrooms on top.
lol.we couldnt finish the food la duh.
anyways, the food was pretty delicious.i especially love the xiao bai cai
(lol its JUICY and SWEET!not like those bitter ones u see in singapore)
so we took the MTR from the tung chung station all the way to Central station.
the journey was about 30mins long and
we were all feeling very tired from the trip to the lantau islands.
prolly becos of the strong sunlight bah.
erm yea, im acting silly yet again -_-
Coach.
the attractive neon lights sure made it look more exquisite.
the attractive neon lights sure made it look more exquisite.
after walking for abt a brief 5minutes,
we appeared to be standing in front of the place tat we are gonna have dinner at!
this will also be one of the highlights of day2.
*drumrolls*
here we are, at one of the most famous chinese restaurant in hongkong and china,
winning many many awards.
yung kee restaurant, 香港鏞記酒家 or 鏞記 in short.
it sure looks classy with those bright spotlights and the golden-coloured tiles.
my brother had to make a reservation by phone before the trip to book a table.
although so, we still have to wait for a couple of minutes(prolly ard 15) for them to get us a seat.
we were attended to by a supervisor.
hes very friendly and nice.
after chatting with him, he told us tat he actually worked there for 30+ years.
mind you, hes about 50+ of age.
damn tats like dedicating his whole life for the restaurant man!
man he sure have one of TK's values! LOYALTY!LOL
when we praised him of his loyalty to the restaurant,
he actually bowed to us, as a gesture in return of the praise.
tats wat i call good service.
hes very sincere in his words and made us felt really good.
haha.we really enjoyed the little conversation we had with him.
oh by the way, i tink hes name is Peter Tze.
typically, u can find alot of such friendly and warm people from the service industry in hongkong.
and i guess, tats wat singaporeans should start to learn.
putting down those pride, and start to give our best to customers.
their famous starter.
century eggs with pickled ginger.
the century eggs were very tasty.
its doesnt taste much like those u have inside ur porridge.
its rather soft on the outside and on the inside too.
the yolk was still kinda semi-watery.
their famous roasted goose.
lol i know, its very oily.
but gd food are always unhealthy yea (:
haha the oil on the plate didnt stop me from tasting it.
the skin was roasted till it was crispy.
the meat was very nice too!
the supervisor showed us the fish before he handed it over to the kitchen to cook it.
there, the fresh steamed fish in soy sauce.
u could taste the sweetness and freshness of it.
yum.
getting drunk on XO chinese tea.heh.
LO and BEHOLD!
this desert was the highlight.
the supervisor then asked us whether we were interested in some desert,
we were like "sure!?why not man" haha.
lol we thought he would get sm mango pudding or black sesame paste for us.
but he returned with this and we were kinda suprise.
cos, it wasnt on the menu list.
it was smthing tat the nice supervisor got for us.
mayb it was sm desert for VIP's or the workers there.
oh and he said it was on his treat O.O
how nice and sweet of him eh (:
its really really tasty.i swear!
theres red beans, dried longans, lotus buds, orange skins and duno wat else.
lol cant recall now, but it was a hell-of a mix! (:
and so we bid goodbye to mr tze and left the restaurant.
honestly speaking, tat was one of the most wonderful moments we had in hongkong.
lol wat a cool-ass license plate eh!?
the buzzling streets around the hotel area.
kinda fun to squeeze around in the nite markets.
haha, get to have an experience of their lifestyle yea (:
the streets closed down from evening until abt 1-2am in the midnight i tink.
this is one of those streets near our hotel.
we come here almost every night before going back to our hotels.
over here, the shuttle buses are Q-ing up for duno wat.
theres kinda about 20buses there.
hmm.so tats the end of the day for us,
as we head back to the hotel and get sm rest for day3.
do stay tune for day3 of hongkong with me!whee~ (:
